From Pain to Power: Sara's Endometriosis Journey

What started as typical teenage period pain for Sara evolved into a life-altering battle with endometriosis and adenomyosis. By 2016-2017, the pain had become unbearable, forcing her to seek answers beyond standard painkillers and coping mechanisms.

Thanks to her father's medical background, Sara found her way to a specialist who finally understood her struggles. Her journey involved dramatic lifestyle changes – from eliminating most beverages except water and champagne (yes - she was told that she could drink champers by her consultant - the dream!) to completely restructuring her work life.

Perhaps most notably, Sara's advocacy led to meaningful workplace changes. By being open about her condition, she not only secured a four-day work week to manage her symptoms but also inspired her company to develop a comprehensive menopause policy. "Having these conversations with employers can be daunting," Sara advises, "but if you're in a supportive environment, it's crucial to advocate for your needs."

After trying various treatments and holistic approaches, Sara ultimately underwent a full hysterectomy – a decision that transformed her quality of life. "It wasn't an easy decision," she reflects, "but I have no regrets. The relief has been life-changing."

Today, Sara's story serves as a powerful reminder that while managing endometriosis is challenging, speaking up and advocating for yourself can lead to meaningful change – not just for yourself, but for others facing similar struggles.
